A fan has criticised Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, after his scheduled Cardiff show failed to hold on Sunday.

The attendee, who said she was in Cardiff for the show, took to X to express her frustration, accusing the comedian of failing to appear after fans had reportedly waited for several hours.

According to her account, attendees were kept at the venue from around 4pm until after 10pm, while hype men, DJs, MCs and upcoming artistes continued to perform on stage.

She claimed that those on stage repeatedly told the audience that AY was outside or on his way, only for it to eventually become clear that he would not perform.

Describing the situation as embarrassing and disappointing, the fan questioned how a performer of AY’s standing could leave people waiting for hours without a clear explanation.

She also said she would be requesting a refund for her ticket and called for the comedian to be held accountable over the failed show.

Her complaint adds to the frustration surrounding the Cardiff leg of AY’s “Single and Not Searching” UK tour, which left some attendees angry after spending hours at the venue without seeing the headline act.

AY has since addressed the incident, offering an explanation for why the show did not go ahead.
