Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has ventured into elderly care with the launch of a residential facility in Ibadan, Oyo State, aimed at providing professional support for ageing Nigerians.
The facility, known as Joseph and Esther Homes, was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
Sobowale, who shared moments from the ceremony on her Instagram page, was joined by guests and supporters at the opening of the centre.
The home is designed to provide accommodation and professional care for elderly people who require assistance with their daily activities, while offering families an alternative to managing round-the-clock care at home.
According to information on its website, the facility seeks to support families without excluding them from the care of their ageing relatives.
Its services include professional assistance and regular updates to ensure that family members remain connected to their loved ones, even when distance or other commitments prevent them from providing direct care.
The centre's philosophy is anchored on preserving the independence, dignity and social connections of older people, with the motto, “Live Well, Age Well, Thrive Together”.
The project marks a departure from Sobowale's established career in Nollywood, where she has earned recognition for her roles in Nigerian films, particularly her portrayal of strong and memorable characters.
Makinde's commissioning of the facility also brought official recognition from the Oyo State Government to the initiative.
Joseph and Esther Homes has commenced registration for interested families, with online consultations also available through its website.
