Ogun to Fix Deworming Day in Academic Calendar

Ogun State Government has declared that it will set a day aside in the school academic calendar for deworming exercise in all schools and communities in all the twenty local government areas of the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker made this known during the flag-off of the deworming programme for children in 14 endemic local government areas in the state.

She noted that the programme is for children between age five and fourteen, adding that deworming increases growth and improves nutrition.

She urged parents and guardians to ensure that they cooperate with Governor in raising healthy children and endeavour to feed the children and not the worms because children with worms will lack required nutrients for physical and mental development.
