Lassa Fever confirmed in Delta

Delta state commissioner for health Nicholas Azinge has confirmed two cases of Lassa Fever in the state.

One of the patients is said to have died at the Federal Medical Center Asaba where he was receiving treatment.

This is coming after several days of denial by the state government which led to the commissioner opening up while fielding questions from newsmen.

Speaking to newsmen after donating preventive kits to the medical director of the FMC, the health commissioner spoke on the discovered cases.

Speaking on the dead patient who hails from Anambra state, the commissioner said preventive measures will be taken to transfer him for burial.

Meanwhile, an intensive sensitization program is expected to commence on Friday according to the Delta state government, as part of measures to create awareness to members of the public while free kits will also be donated to schools.
