UEFA has announced a moment of silence in memory of Jesús de Miguel Alameda at all UEFA matches this week.

European and Spanish football are in mourning following the death of CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel Alameda, aged 30.

The striker, having played for teams in Spain's lower leagues, helped Tenerife secure promotion to the Segunda División last season.

"We are heartbroken by the death of Jesús de Miguel Alameda," said UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin. "We have searched for words and found only silence. In that silence, our hearts and thoughts are with his family, his teammates, everyone at CD Tenerife, and all those who mourn this tragic loss."

A club statement read: "Heartbroken, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, we at CD Tenerife announce the tragic passing, on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 8.00 am, of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.

"There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can ease this overwhelming sense of sadness. We stand with his devastated family, with his loved ones, and with the entire Tenerife football community, who today mourn this cruel turn of events.

"The family of Jesús de Miguel would like to thank everyone for their expressions of support and, from the bottom of their hearts, ask that their privacy be respected at this terrible time."

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) added: "Spanish football mourns the loss of Jesús de Miguel. Devastated by the sad news, from the RFEF we wish to express our deepest sorrow for his passing today. We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones, as well as to Club Deportivo Tenerife and all its fans, whom we accompany in these moments of profound grief."
