Thierry Henry Retires From Football

Football superstar Thierry Henry has officially declared his retirement from professional soccer in his post on Facebook. His decision does not necessarily come as a huge shock, but there had been questions about his future after the New York red bulls were eliminated from the playoffs.

He finishes his career with 360 professional goals and another 50 with the France national team.

Although Henry only spent five of his 20 professional seasons with the Red Bulls, he still managed to bag 52 goals. During his four full seasons with the Red Bulls, Henry never scored fewer than 10 goals.

Henry leaves the game surely capable of squeezing a couple more years from his 37-year-old legs, having come off another outstanding season with the Red Bulls.

Henry scored 10 goals and added 14 assists while garnering attention as a potential MVP candidate and leading the Red Bulls to the playoffs for the fifth straight season.

Henry wrote on his Facebook page ‘After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football. It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, team mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and of course the French National Team that have made my time in the game so special’.
