Kelechi Iheanacho extended his scoring streak to 10 consecutive matches for Bursaspor after netting twice in their 3-0 away win over Muglaspor on Thursday.

The Super Eagles forward scored in the 58th and 79th minutes to help Bursaspor return to winning ways following their defeat by Mardin 1969.

Iheanacho thought he had opened the scoring in the 48th minute, but his effort was ruled out for offside. He eventually broke the deadlock with a composed finish before doubling his side’s lead with an impressive individual effort in the 79th minute.

The brace took his tally to 14 goals in 10 matches and extended his remarkable run in front of goal.

The former Leicester City and Celtic striker has now set a new Bursaspor record for consecutive matches with a goal, moving two games clear of Fernandao’s previous mark of eight, set during the 2014/15 season.

Iheanacho equalled the Brazilian’s record in the defeat by Mardin 1969 before surpassing it with his latest performance.

His form could strengthen his chances of earning a place in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad for November’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania.

The forward scored on his return to the national team and also found the net in Nigeria’s 3-3 draw against Russia in Nizhny Novgorod on October 6.

Nigeria will be looking to revive their qualification campaign against Tanzania after suffering a defeat to Guinea-Bissau.
