A 15-member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will inspect venues in Lagos and Abuja on Friday as Nigeria prepares to host two major continental football events.
The inspection is the final assessment ahead of the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards, scheduled for November 21 and December 7, respectively.
According to information published by the Nigeria Football Federation, the delegation will be led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa.
The team is expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon to assess preparations at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel and Suites, and Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The officials will also meet representatives of the Lagos State Government.
In Abuja, the delegation will inspect the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Courtesy visits to the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission are also scheduled.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre on November 21, while the awards ceremony is scheduled for the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos on December 7.
The visit follows an earlier inspection by CAF officials from July 31 to August 4. That visit involved meetings with institutions and agencies responsible for hosting the events, with discussions focusing on communication, coordination and the arrangements required for their successful delivery.
A six-member NFF delegation, led by Dr Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF team during the inspections.
