The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set a target of mobilising 40 million women’s votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid as the party prepares to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council on October 14.

The council’s inauguration will take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Betta Edu and other party leaders expected to play key roles.

Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, disclosed the plan on Friday after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he briefed State House correspondents on preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He said the President had approved the proposed campaign timetable, adding that the first rally would hold in Kaduna on October 24 before the campaign moves to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State.

Ahead of the formal inauguration, the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and Edu, who heads women’s mobilisation for the campaign council, have begun grassroots engagement to build support for the President’s second-term ambition.

The team is targeting 40 million women’s votes through a nationwide mobilisation strategy covering 176,846 communities and polling-unit structures across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The initiative is expected to involve community outreach, grassroots mobilisation networks and efforts to communicate the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0 to women across the country.

The campaign council’s inauguration is expected to formalise its operations and bring party leaders and other stakeholders together to coordinate activities ahead of the presidential election.

The October 14 event will precede the planned Kaduna rally on October 24, which is expected to mark the start of Tinubu’s nationwide re-election campaign.
