Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has dismissed a social media report claiming he endorsed the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Adamawa, Sen. Ishaku Abbo, describing the report as “fake”.
Wike made the rebuttal in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, issued on Friday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the social media post had falsely quoted Wike as advising Adamawa residents to make thoughtful choices at the ballot, claiming he described Abbo as the best fit to lead the state.
The minister, however, said he has no ties with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in Adamawa, insisting that he never endorsed Abbo or any other LP candidate.
He urged the people of Adamawa to disregard the report, adding that whenever he decides to support a candidate, he would state his position publicly himself.
