Troops of Sector 4 Operation HADIN KAI, in a targeted security operation in Lassa, arrested two suspected foreign bandits, a male, from Sudan, the other, a female, from Ghana, in Borno State, within the Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area.

According to the military, the operation was conducted by soldiers of the 115 Task Force Battalion at about 11:48a.m. on 19 July, as part of ongoing intelligence-driven missions across the North East Theatre.

The military said one of those arrested is Musa Fashir, a 32-year-old Sudanese national, suspected to be a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator. Preliminary intelligence showed he has established links with terrorist elements operating in the region. His arrest, officials said, pointed to continued attempts by foreign actors to support insurgent activities in North East Nigeria.

The second suspect, Mary Florence, 36, claims to be an illegal immigrant from the Republic of Ghana. The military said the circumstances around her presence in the area and the authenticity of her claims are still being investigated. Both suspects are currently in military custody.

Military authorities said both individuals are undergoing preliminary profiling and interrogation. The goal is to confirm their identities, map out the extent of their activities, and determine if they have ties to terrorist groups or transnational criminal networks operating across borders.

The Joint Task Force described the arrests as further proof of Operation HADIN KAI’s effectiveness in disrupting terrorist support networks and blocking the infiltration of foreign fighters. In a statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, the Theatre reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding communities and called on the public to keep providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help restore lasting peace and stability in the North East.
