The All Progressives Congress (APC) will begin its nationwide campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in Kaduna on Saturday, Oct. 24, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari has said.

Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), announced this on Tuesday in Abuja after the council’s inaugural meeting.

He said the campaign would continue until Jan. 16, 2027, urging directorates to develop work plans for effective implementation of their responsibilities.

Yari expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2027 presidential election, attributing his optimism to Tinubu’s policies and development projects.

He urged members of the council’s directorates to justify the confidence reposed in them, stressing that their appointments reflected their individual merits.

“Each and every person who sits down under this roof is a trustee of the president. The president trusted us and he gave us this responsibility; we must carry it out well,” he said.

Yari explained that the council’s ongoing visits to prominent traditional rulers were intended to seek their blessings and prayers, rather than campaign for votes.

He said traditional rulers remained important because of their roles as custodians of culture and moral authorities within their communities.

According to him, the traditional institutions are also strategically positioned to explain government policies and reforms to the people.

“We are still on with traditional rulers; we need their prayers, and being the authority closest to the masses of the country, we need to go and explain to them where we are and where we want to go,” he said.

Yari said Kaduna would host the campaign’s opening event on Saturday, after which activities would continue until Jan. 16, 2027.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inaugural meeting was attended by heads of the PCC directorates, their secretaries and other invited council members.
