The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027, promising that his administration will move the country from economic reforms to greater prosperity if given a second term.

She gave the assurance on Saturday at the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where APC members gathered to support the re-election of Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

According to a statement signed by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the rally was attended by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and other governors from the North-Central region.

Mrs Tinubu said the President’s Independence Day address, titled From Reforms to Prosperity, signalled a shift towards economic growth and improved living conditions.

“The Independence Day message of Mr President was titled ‘From Reforms to Prosperity’. Therefore, Mr President is saying that they are going to reform the sector, but now is the time for prosperity, and we can see our economy is stabilising,” she said.

She cited movements in the foreign exchange market and renewed investor interest as signs of progress.

“Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria,” she said.

The First Lady also praised state governments for infrastructure development and said the administration was taking steps to address food insecurity and malnutrition.

“Our farmers too, you can see all our governors here, they are doing infrastructural development like no other time before,” she added.

On social welfare, she said the government had completed a food bank programme designed to support children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers with nutritious food.

“As you see now, we have just finished the food bank programme, where we are helping every child and mothers who are pregnant and also breastfeeding,” she said.

She explained that the initiative was intended to improve nutrition and help malnourished children recover.

“This is to ensure that they can have more nutritious food, and also the children that are malnourished can get treatment and also get food to grow healthy,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu further said young people in schools were receiving adequate funding, urging APC members to communicate the administration’s policies and achievements to voters in their respective states.

“As we all go back to our various states, tell everyone that Mr President Bola Tinubu is a leader who is very bold,” she said.

“He will not stop by being at home to take difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity.”

She argued that returning Tinubu and Shettima to office would improve the country’s economic prospects and security.

“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of the APC from top to bottom,” she said.

Other speakers at the rally also called on Nigerians to support Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The APC is preparing to inaugurate its presidential campaign council on October 14, with the party’s campaign scheduled to begin in Kaduna on October 24. Senator Abdulaziz Yari is the council’s director-general, while Uzodimma is its secretary.
