Ex-Militants Threaten President Jonathan's Visit To Delta

The president of the federal republic of Nigeria president Goodluck Jonathan have been advised to stay clear of the proposed ground breaking ceremony of the Export Processing Zone(EPZ) billed to takeplace at Ogidigben in Warri South West local government area of Delta state.

The advise was given by ex-militants and youth activists from Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West local council area of the state who were protesting  with  speed boats  and placards, over what they described  as  government bias against the Ijaws, and threaten to disrupt the activities along the waterways should the president  visit the waterways community.

For a first timer in the creeks of the Niger Delta, the atmospherewould be mistaken for 2008 when ex-militants made the waterways unsafe for business, as  speed boats in a show of force took over the waterways.

Addressing journalists, some of the ex-militants promised total war should the president visit Warri on Friday for the ground breaking ceremony.

Others who spoke includes  youth activists from  Gbaramatu kingdom and the spokesperson,  who call on the president to shelve the plan of visiting Warri on Friday  until  the issues are resolved.

Meanwhile, the show of force by the ex-militants at the sea  was shifted  to the land, where placards of different inscriptions  was displayed by women, why the ex-militants took to dancing and singing in anticipation of what to expect on Friday.

It will be recalled that since the president announced the 16 Billion dollars  proposed gas project to be sited in the Itsekiri community of Ogidigben, tension has continued to rise as their Ijaw neighbors  want a stake since they claim to have 70 percent of the proposed project landscape.
