The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged residents of Ekiti State to verify their details on the voters’ register and make necessary corrections during the forthcoming display of the Preliminary Register of Voters.

The exercise is scheduled to hold from October 9 to 15 across the 177 wards in the state.

The appeal was made by the Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Bunmi Omosehindemi, represented by the Head of Operations, Dr Ralman Badru, at a press conference in Ado Ekiti.

The commission said the exercise would enable registered voters to identify errors in their records and raise objections where necessary ahead of future elections in the state.

The Head of General Administration, Tiamiyu Arowolo, said INEC had commenced training for electoral officers and ad hoc staff who would handle the exercise at registration areas.

He said the training was aimed at ensuring that the process was conducted accurately and transparently across the state.

The Head of ICT, Titilayo Aderinde, also urged residents to take advantage of the exercise to scrutinise their voter information and report discrepancies.

The Ekiti State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Oluwakemi Akomolede, assured the commission and residents that the agency would support the exercise by disseminating information to the public.
