Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, has urged 21 newly sworn-in political appointees to prioritise service delivery and discharge their duties without fear or favour, insisting that governance must continue despite the election season.

Balarabe gave the charge on Thursday during the swearing-in of three commissioners, 18 special advisers, a deputy chief of staff and a counsellor on infrastructure.

She reminded the appointees that their oaths of allegiance and office, as prescribed by the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution, carried serious responsibilities to the government and people of the state.

“The Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office are not mere words because they bind you before God and the people of Kaduna State, to serve faithfully,” she said.

The deputy governor described the ceremony as a call to service, urging the appointees to demonstrate humility, integrity and courage in the discharge of their responsibilities.

She said their appointments reflected Governor Uba Sani’s confidence in their abilities and urged them to justify the trust through improved performance.

Defending the timing of the appointments amid the election season, Balarabe said the administration would not allow political activities to distract it from meeting the needs of residents.

“Elections have their calendar, but the needs of our people do not wait for it,” she said.

She added that Sani remained committed to building a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive Kaduna State, irrespective of political party or ethno-religious affiliation.

Balarabe highlighted some achievements of the administration since May 2023, including the reopening of more than 500 schools previously shut due to insecurity and the return of over 300,000 out-of-school children to classrooms in 2025 alone.

She also said communities previously divided by conflict were reconciling under the Kaduna Peace Model, while farmlands were reopening and commercial activities improving.

In the health sector, she said 255 primary healthcare centres had been upgraded to Level Two, while improvements were ongoing in general hospitals.

The administration, she added, was also executing about 160 road projects covering approximately 1,335 kilometres across the state's 23 local government areas.

Balarabe further cited the proposed light rail and bus rapid transit projects as part of efforts to improve transportation in the state.

She urged the new appointees to serve as a link between the government and grassroots communities, stressing that their performance should demonstrate the value of their appointments.

“Let your performance be the argument that convinces the sceptical and the proof that justifies the trust of the supportive,” she said.

The three commissioners sworn in are Benjamin Dalhat Solomon Kure for Sports Development, Amina Akilu Dalhat for Special Duties I, and Abdullahi Garba Abbas for Special Duties II.

Dr Haliru Musa Soba was sworn in as Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), while Balarabe Muhammad Bello took the oath as Counsellor on Infrastructure.
