Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday travelled to Abuja for the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

A video circulating on X showed the governor walking towards a private jet with members of his protocol team before departing for the Federal Capital Territory.

The inauguration is scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

Adeleke was recently named Osun State coordinator of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, placing him among the party officials expected to mobilise support for the president’s second-term bid.

However, the Osun State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has dismissed the significance of the appointment, insisting that it would not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in the state.

In a statement, the party’s state chairman, Wale Adebayo, said voters would make their choices based on candidates’ performance and personal convictions rather than campaign appointments.

“His inclusion in the revised APC Presidential Campaign Council list does not guarantee Tinubu’s victory in Osun in the coming general election,” Adebayo said.

He described Osun voters as politically sophisticated and capable of making independent decisions at the polls.

“Osun people are politically sophisticated and will vote based on their conscience, not on whose name appears on a campaign council list,” he added.

Adebayo expressed confidence that opposition parties would remain competitive in the state, claiming that the appointment would not automatically translate into votes for the APC.

“We are confident that despite this appointment, our presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, will win Osun State in the general election,” he said.

The inauguration marks a step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, as parties begin positioning their campaign structures ahead of the polls.
