The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned its state chapters against nominating unreliable polling unit agents ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that only loyal and committed members should represent the party.
The party fixed December 10 as the deadline for submitting nominees, seven days before the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) December 17 deadline.
The National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, gave the directive during a capacity-building session on the party's agent-uploading portal.
He warned that nominating individuals who could work for rival parties as double agents might compromise the PDP's interests and weaken its chances at the polls.
Bature said state representatives were expected to upload the names, polling unit details and photographs of their nominees through the party's portal, while the national leadership would handle the final submission to INEC.
He urged state officials to begin the process early and properly screen prospective agents to avoid mistakes.
The PDP National Youth Leader, Bala Aboki, also called on state chairmen, secretaries and information and communications technology officers to work together in selecting credible representatives.
Aboki urged the party to give young members greater opportunities in the process, describing them as an important part of its support base.
He also appealed to members to remain united, patient and committed despite the challenges facing the party.
The PDP said there would be no extension of the December 10 deadline and urged its state chapters to complete the nomination and screening process on time.
