The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to accept money offered by politicians during election campaigns but vote according to their conscience in the 2027 general elections.
Makinde gave the advice on Saturday during the flag-off of the APM presidential campaign in Bauchi State, where he cautioned voters against allowing financial inducements to determine their electoral choices.
“Don’t bother at all when they bring money, it is your money. Collect it, spend it, but vote your heart. And I know your heart is with us and with APM,” he told supporters.

The Oyo State governor urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the country's current economic and security situation to support his proposed Reset Agenda, which he said would address hunger, insecurity and exclusion from governance.
He identified hunger as one of the country's biggest challenges, arguing that the situation required fundamental changes to economic policies and governance.
Makinde also questioned whether the country's insecurity and lack of citizens' participation in governance did not warrant a review of the security architecture and socio-political environment.
“If you are not happy with the way things are in our country today, if you’re not happy that there’s not enough inclusivity, if you’re not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth, they cannot handle our issues with sincerity, then there’s only one path for us. And the path is to reset Nigeria,” he said.
The campaign flag-off was attended by Bauchi State Governor and APM National Leader, Bala Mohammed, who urged Nigerians to support Makinde's presidential ambition.
Mohammed said he and Makinde left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after experiencing what he described as injustice within the party.
He expressed confidence in Makinde's leadership capacity, citing his record as Oyo State governor and his commitment to inclusive governance.
However, Mohammed urged the presidential candidate to ensure that Bauchi State and the North-East would not be marginalised if he emerged victorious in the election.
He called for fairness in federal appointments, insisting that government positions should reflect Nigeria's diversity and comply with the federal character principle.
Also speaking, APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle said the party's Reset Agenda was designed to promote accountable leadership and address what he described as deceit and hypocrisy in Nigerian politics.
He called for greater participation of women in political leadership and urged Nigerians to scrutinise the party's proposals ahead of the 2027 general elections.
