All is now set for the declaration of President Goodluck as the sole presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party. According to the special adviser to the president on media, Dr. Ruben Abati, the president will soon accept demands from Nigerian for him to re-contest his position as president. Dr. Abati in a chat with state house correspondents explained that after much pressure, the president will declare interest in the presidential race before his party’s deadline. He said various committees among which is the presidential declaration committee chaired by the former chairman of the PDP Adamu Haliru, have been set up for that proposed event. Other members of the committee include; Former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani who will serve as Deputy chairman while the Secretary to the government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, the special adviser to the president on political matters, Prof. Ahmed Alkali, Special assistant to the President on youth development, Jude Imagwe and Special assistant for Schools' Agriculture Programme, Hajia Baraka Sanni will serve as members.
