Osun 2026: Police Orders Suspension Of Campaign Over Political Shootings
The Police, though yet to issue official statement, may have ordered all political parties to suspend rallies, campaigns and all political activities in Osun State after recent shootings by thugs of political parties. The Police, specifically, put on hold the rally scheduled to hold in Oriade Local Government Area last Wednesday over security threats.
Residents in some parts of Osun State were thrown into mild tension following reported shooting by suspected hoodlums at different places in Ile-lfe, Ede and Osogbo, which led to some persons sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, at a media briefing in Oshogbo, accused chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state of arming their political thugs to carry out the violent acts.
The governor condemned the incident and called for the intervention of security agencies and President Bola Tinubu to caution APC stakeholders in the state over the incident and similar recent cases. He later visited the UNIOSUN teaching hospital in Osogbo, to console affected victims.
Meanwhile, APC Stakeholders in the state debunked the allegation, accusing the governor and members of his party of attack on the APC convoy returning from Ile-Ife after a political rally.
