Open Grazing Is Not the Same as Spare Part Business - Umahi Replies Malami
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State says anyone condemning the ban of open grazing in the southern part of the country by the southern governors wants killing to continue in the country.
Governor Umahi was responding to a statement credited to the minister of Justice and Attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Mallami that banning open grazing is like banning spare parts business.
Addressing State House Correspondents during the weekly special briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Thursday, the Governor said spare parts business is self-sustaining and do not infringe on other businesses, unlike the open grazing system.
He said the country must revert to the traditional way of rearing cows to maintain peace and unity in the country.
The governor also responded to the agitation for Southeast presidency come 2023 saying such is right if there must be equity in the country.
On the peaceful agitation by IPOB and other groups, governor Umahi who is also the chairman of the Southeast governor's forum said the agitations have been hijacked.
He described the agitation for a better region by MSSOB, IPOB and ESN as offshoots of the years of neglect by the previous Government but urged the youths and agitators to aggregate their demands for onward transmission to the federal government.
