Magboro community storm ogun assembly

Residents of Magboro communities in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have stormed the State House of Assembly complex in protest against alleged land grabbing in the area.

The aggrieved protesters from 15 communities under the aegis of Magboro Communities CDAs expressed concern over what they called ineffectiveness of the Anti - Grabbers Law in the state, describing it as "toothless bulldog."

Just as another community - Onikogbo in Ado Odo/Ota Local also joined in the demonstration against "hijacking of their lands.

The Chairman of Magboro Communities CDAs, Jimi Olusanya and his counterparts told the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Olakunle Oluomo that the activities of the land grabbers popularly called Omo Oniles have led to extortion, destruction of properties and loss of lives in the area.

They submitted that the "ineffectiveness of the law" have allowed land grabbers to terrorize them over their properties."

He explained that their untoward activities assumed another dimension last week when they stormed communities and pasted court orders on houses over alleged possession of the lands in the communities. He also demanded that the Anti - Grabbers Law be put into implementation to curb activities of the hoodlums.

Responding, Oluomo assured the protesters that the legislature would intervene and make the anti-grabbers law more effective.

He also charged them to be on guard and explore other possible areas to resolve the issues legitimately without plunging the state into crisis.
