Group protest alleged extra-judicial killing by delta police

Rights group under the umbrella body of Centre for the Vulnerable and the Underprivileged (CENTREP) have taken to the streets of Ovwian community in Udu local government area of Delta state, in protest over the alleged extra-judicial killing of a 42-yr-old mother of four Mrs Grace Dagbo by armed robbers having links to policemen on stop and search in the community.


The protest which was led by the husband of the late woman Mr. Benjamin Dagbo, their eleven-year-old daughter and the executive director of the group, was calling for an inquest into the killing by the National Human Rights Commission.

Addressing newsmen, the Executive Director of the rights group Barrister Oghenejabor Ikimi narrated the incident.

On his part, the husband of the late woman calls for justice as the group fingered the police over the killing.

When contacted, the Delta state police commissioner Adeyinka Adeleke who commiserated with the family promised an investigative panel on the incident that led to the death of Mrs. Grace Dagbo.
