Four persons have been confirmed dead after a two story building, during the early hours, collapsed at No.9  Egbu road, Owerri, the Imo state southeast Nigeria.

The incident which happened at about 4am on Sunday has coursed panic in state.  Though the possible causes of the incident is yet to be ascertained, the authority has advised people of the state to remain calm.

Speaking during the rescue process, the commissioner of police and the chairman bureau of land, survey and town planning, expressed sympathy to those that lost their loved ones while assuring medical care for the injured and rescued ones. 

Meanwhile, the executive governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha has commended the men of the Nigeria red cross and the security agents for their quick intervention. 

He assured the families of the deceased of the state government's support.
