A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a 35-year-old woman, Ifeoma Vivian Nwafor, N3m bail after she was arraigned over alleged cyberstalking of the Managing Director of Eleganza Industries Limited, Mrs Folashade Noimat Okoya.

Nwafor was arraigned by the police on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and alleged cyberstalking of Okoya, the wife of the Aare of Lagos, Chief Razaq Akanni Okoya, who is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Eleganza Group of Companies.

The defendant, a native of Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, pleaded not guilty to all three counts when the charges were read to her before Justice Dipeolu.

The prosecution, represented by Stanley Nwafoaku of the Legal Department of the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, had urged the court to remand Nwafor in custody and adjourn the case for trial.

The defence counsel, O.J. Aduwa, however, applied for bail under Sections 35(4), 36(1) and 36(5) of the Constitution.

Aduwa urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, assuring the judge that she would attend all proceedings.

The prosecution did not oppose the bail application, citing the nature of the alleged offences.

Justice Dipeolu subsequently granted Nwafor bail in the sum of N3m, with two sureties in like sum.

The judge ordered that both sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, while one must be a blood relation of the defendant.

They were also directed to provide evidence of three years’ tax payment, National Identification Numbers and photographs, as well as depose to affidavits of compliance.

Nwafor was equally ordered to depose to an affidavit undertaking to make herself available throughout the trial.

The judge adjourned the case until November 8 for trial and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending fulfilment of her bail conditions.

According to the charge, Nwafor allegedly conspired with others still at large in June 2026 at the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, to commit a felony.

The prosecution alleged that she and her alleged accomplices acted with the intention of causing “annoyance, injury, fear, intimidation, enmity and/or needless anxiety” to Okoya.

It further alleged that Nwafor used Instagram accounts, including @cutie_juis and @truestorieswithifeomafans, to publish what it described as offensive, false and malicious material concerning Okoya.

The prosecution also alleged that pictures of Okoya and defamatory material about her were published online.

The charge said the alleged offence contravened and was punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Law of the Federation.

The case was filed as Suit No. FHC/LAG/CR/819/2026 by the Inspector-General of Police, while the prosecution was handled by the Legal Department of the FCID Annex, Alagbon, under the supervision of CSP Adewuyi Taiwo Oyewale.
