Troops have arrested two suspected herders in Kaduna State as security operatives intensify efforts to recover weapons reportedly stolen during an attack on a military checkpoint.
The suspects were apprehended during a raid on a settlement in Gongoro, Sanga Local Government Area, by troops of Operation Enduring Peace in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes.
The operation followed an attack on the Angwan Boka military checkpoint on October 31, 2026, during which the assailants reportedly
escaped with some military weapons.
Security and intelligence sources said the raid was conducted by troops of Sector 6 of the operation alongside personnel of the Department of State Security Force, EIB Stratoc and other security operatives.
A motorcycle was also recovered during the operation.
The arrested suspects have been taken into military custody for investigation to establish their possible involvement in the checkpoint attack and identify other members of the group.
Meanwhile, troops have intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations across the area to track down the fleeing attackers and recover the missing weapons.
The operation is part of efforts by security agencies to prevent further attacks and restore peace in communities across the operational area.
