President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set out to reinforce the Judiciary and improve the effectiveness of justice dispensation in the country.

The President engaged on judicial reform to increase the number of Justices in the Federal Court of Appeal and Federal High Court in Nigeria.

The President, accordingly, transmitted requests to the Senate for the amendment of the Court of Appeal Act, to increase the number of Justices from 70 to 110 in the appellate court.

The President, simultaneously, requested the Senate to amend the Federal High Court Act, to increase the number of Justices from 70 to 90.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on the reconvening of plenary in the Senate, after about five weeks Christmas and New Year recess, read the letters from the President.

President Tinubu also transmitted other letters to the Senate, seeking confirmation of the appointment of Justice Oyewole Joseph Kayode as a Justice of the Supreme Court; as well as a bill seeking amendment to 24 health sector bills.
