He said the measures were part of his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of corps members and ensuring a conducive environment for national service.
“The role of corps members in promoting national integration and unity cannot be overemphasised,” the governor said.
Aliyu also approved the donation of a Toyota Hilux vehicle to the NYSC to strengthen its monitoring and supervision activities, particularly in difficult terrains.
He directed the management of the institution hosting the orientation camp to urgently address challenges affecting electricity and water supply.
The governor disclosed that his administration had committed more than N1bn to the renovation and upgrading of the permanent NYSC orientation camp in Wamakko Local Government Area.
He said the project was about 90 per cent complete.
Aliyu assured the corps members that their security and welfare would remain a priority, while urging ministries, government agencies and other employers not to reject corps members posted to them.
He also announced the establishment of a committee to ensure the effective implementation of the newly approved allowance.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Tyoyer Gabriel Ter, commended the governor for his continued support for the scheme and the welfare of corps members.
“Based on the governor’s consistent support for corps members in the state, he will soon be honoured as the best NYSC-friendly governor,” Ter said.
The coordinator also acknowledged the support of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, particularly for providing bulls for corps members during orientation exercises.
He said the Sultan also sponsored awards for the two best-performing corps members at every passing-out parade.
