Gara said the establishment of the newly created 5 Division was part of efforts to strengthen the Army’s operational capacity and address emerging security challenges.

He explained that the relocation of 126 Battalion from Lokoja to Okene was aimed at improving military presence and response to insecurity and border-related threats in the area.

The GOC emphasised the importance of collaboration between the military and traditional institutions in addressing security challenges.

He said traditional rulers remained important partners in promoting peace, mobilising community support and strengthening relationships between security agencies and residents.

In his response, the Ohinoyi welcomed the establishment of the division and commended the Army for engaging traditional institutions in its security efforts.

The monarch offered prayers and royal blessings for the success of Gara’s leadership and the division.

He also decorated the GOC with traditional Ebira wrappers and accorded him the status of an indigene of the kingdom as a mark of cultural acceptance and hospitality.

The visit was part of the GOC’s engagement with critical stakeholders to strengthen civil-military relations and build partnerships for improved security in Kogi.
