She said that the cases comprised Gender-Based Violence (GBV), rape, sexual and domestic violence, mistreatment, abandonment of parental responsibilities, and civil and political violations.
The coordinator said the commission received, assessed, and registered the complaints to ensure amicable resolution of the cases.
“The commission also investigates allegations and sets up special panels or tribunals to hear petitions and review testimonies,” she said.
According to Dala, the commission supports victims and issues recommendations for amicable resolutions of cases.
Dala identified lack of funding, low public awareness, and illiteracy as major challenges to its operations.
While urging the people to report cases of abuse to the commission, Dala enjoined youth and women's groups to champion the campaign against human rights abuse.
