Rep. Ibrahim Almustapha-Rabah, member representing Wurno/Rabah Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, has distributed 30 motorcycles to security agencies to boost security operations in the area.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday in Rabah LGA, the lawmaker said the initiative was aimed at complementing the efforts of state government in tackling insecurity across the affected communities.
He added that the intervention was part of his commitment to supporting security agencies and improving the safety of residents in the constituency.
Almustapha-Rabah urged the beneficiary agencies to use the motorcycles effectively to achieve the objectives, adding that he would introduce more initiatives in other areas.
Earlier speaking, the Chairman, Rabah LGA, Yusuf Muhammad-Rabah, commended the lawmaker for the intervention, describing it as a step toward addressing insecurity in the area.
The District Head of Rabah, Bello Abdullahi, appreciated the lawmaker for the initiative and pledged the support of traditional and community leaders in efforts to bring insecurity under control.
Similarly, the member representing Rabah LGA in the State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Zakari, said the beneficiaries were the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services.
Others were the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as Community Guards Corps in Rabah and Wurno.
Zakari added that the State Intelligence Project (SIP) in Rabah also benefited from the intervention.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Human Rights, Yahaya Sani-Rarah, described the intervention as timely and commendable.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by traditional rulers from Rabah and Wurno, heads and representatives of security agencies, community leaders, politicians, among others.
