The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 13 suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition, charms and a stolen vehicle in separate operations across the state.
The arrests followed intelligence-led operations targeting criminal activities, including cultism and violent crimes.
The command’s spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement that operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout around Coca-Cola Market in Okpoko following credible intelligence.
One locally made double-barrelled pistol, a live cartridge and charms were recovered during the operation.
A follow-up search at one of the suspects’ residences also led to the recovery of a Vikings confraternity beret and cap.
Ikenga said preliminary investigations indicated the suspect’s alleged involvement in cult-related activities, adding that information obtained from those arrested had helped investigators identify other people allegedly linked to the group.
In a separate operation, operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit recovered an abandoned green Toyota Highlander in Ogidi community.
The police said preliminary findings showed that the vehicle was allegedly snatched from its owner at Ogidi Building Materials on August 16, 2026.
The state Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Ama, assured residents that the command would sustain operations against cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
