The Senate today resolved to direct the Federal Ministry of Health and its various agencies to work closely with the World Health Organization to acquire sufficient vaccines needed to respond to the outbreak of Meningitis.

The Senate equally directed relevant agencies to carry out nationwide immunization of children and adults that are susceptible to the disease.

Galaxy TV correspondent reports that some Senators that made submissions during debate on the motion include some sponsors and co-sponsors of the motion. Senator Gbenga Ashafa of Lagos East, Ali Wakili (Bauchi South) and Senate Spokesman, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi of Niger North all spoke on the urgent need to curb the spread of the outbreak of meningitis and deaths.

At the end of contributions, Senate President Bukola Saraki called on relevant agencies to carry out nationwide immunization of children.
