The Rivers State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, has extended the deadline for full enforcement against commercial vehicles with unauthorised tinted glasses to October 31, 2026.
The extension follows appeals from Transport Union Leaders to allow affected operators additional time to comply.
The Command urged all commercial vehicle operators to use this final grace period to remove unauthorised tinted glasses and regularise their vehicles.
From November 1, 2026, vehicles found in violation will be subject to enforcement and sanctions under the law.
All Area Commanders and DPOs are directed to ensure strict compliance and conduct thorough and lawful searches during enforcement operations, particularly where security concerns arise.
Tricycles ( Keke ) must not operate beyond 10:00 p.m. Area Commanders and DPOs are directed to ensure strict enforcement of this restriction.
The Command warned that the enforcement exercise must not be used for extortion or harassment of members of the public.
It said any police officer found engaging in extortion or abusing the enforcement process will face appropriate disciplinary action.
The Command urged all transport operators to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with the Police in maintaining peace and security across Rivers State.
