The House Committee on Commerce, chaired by Hon Ahmed Munir, held a public hearing on Monday to deliberate on two key Bills: the establishment of the Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance, and the Chartered Institute of Business Educators of Nigeria (CIBEN). Both initiatives aim to enhance entrepreneurship, leadership, and business education in the country.

Speaking during the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Tajudeen Abass, represented by Rep. Kama Nkemkanma, emphasized the need to address youth unemployment through skill acquisition and structured training.

He stated that the proposed Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance would significantly contribute to Nigeria's peace, prosperity, and stability by equipping entrepreneurs with the necessary skills for excellence in various fields. Abass further highlighted the critical role of business educators in nurturing competent entrepreneurs.

He argued that the establishment of CIBEN would advance the study, training, and practice of business education, ensuring educators are well-equipped to train globally competitive entrepreneurs. In his opening remarks, Hon Munir noted that the Bills align with the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives, which prioritizes improving the lives of Nigerians.

He stressed the importance of laws that guide governance and ensure citizens benefit maximally from government initiatives. The hearing underscored the legislature’s commitment to fostering economic growth and providing opportunities for Nigeria’s youth and entrepreneurs through strategic legislative reforms
