Police Launch Violent Crime Response Unit In Benue

The Police have relaunched a new strike group after the reorganization of its tactical structure now known as specialized Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.

The State Commissioner of Police of the Benue State Command, CP Ifeanyi Innocent Emenari, said the establishment of the unit is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency across the State.

The CP described the initiative as a strategic step towards improving coordination in tackling violent crimes and other emerging security threats and serves as a centralized response arm for critical incident, enabling swift deployment and better resource management.

The Police revealed that selected officers and men have commenced an intensive training programme focused on modern policing techniques, ethical conduct, and tactical response.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet, of the Command, in a. Statement, assured residents of their safety and called on the public to continue to provide credible information and support the Police in ensuring a safer Benue State.
