The Nigerian Police Force has arrested 681 individuals, who committed various criminal offenses, including armed robbery, arson, and destruction of public and private property, during ongoing hunger protests. According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, dangerous weapons, including two AK-47 rifles and live ammunition, were recovered from the suspects.

Additionally, stolen items worth billions of naira, including furniture, electronics, and vital infrastructure, were recovered from the arrested persons. The police clarified that protest organizers were not arrested, and those in custody are being investigated for connections to criminal activities. The statement also revealed that nine police officers were injured during attacks by protesters, with one initially reported dead but now in critical condition.

The Force advised law-abiding citizens participating in the protests to withdraw immediately, citing the violence that has characterized the protests in the last two days. The Nigerian Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate information, ensuring safety and security, and performing its duties with professionalism during these challenging times. It also urged citizens to disregard unfounded reports circulating about incidents during the protests.
