The police in Delta says it has arrested two female suspects for child stealing at Effurun, in Uvwie local government area of the state. In a statement by its spokesperson Edafe Bright made available to newsmen, said the suspects Tessy Ikechukwu and Lauretta Akonem were arrested when a commercial tricycle operator diverted his tricycle carrying the women and baby to the Ekpan police station.

According to him, the baby was bought at a traditional home in Port Harcourt for the sum of two million naira. The commercial tricycle operator was said to have heard the women conversation on the balance payment for the baby, which made him acted quickly by diverting the tricycle to the police station for interrogation.

The confessional statement of the suspect’s shows that they bought the baby for two million naira from the Port Harcourt home and were taking the baby home before they were arrested. The Delta police commissioner CP Olufemi Abaniwonda while thanking the commercial tricycle rider for being a patriotic citizen, urged other members of the public to emulate him.
