The Oyo State Police Command has arrested an Indian national and two security guards following a violent confrontation involving two truck drivers at a company in Ibadan.

The arrests followed the circulation of a video showing the alleged assault at the premises of Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The police said preliminary investigations traced the incident to a disagreement over a truck’s parking space, which allegedly escalated after one of its tyres burst.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, had directed detectives to identify and apprehend those involved after the video emerged.

According to the statement, the truck owner, 47-year-old Akinpelu Sarafa, alleged that the driver had objected to a designated parking space because he feared it could damage the vehicle’s tyres.

The driver was reportedly compelled to park at the location, where one of the tyres subsequently burst.

The disagreement allegedly intensified when the driver requested a replacement tyre, but the company reportedly declined to provide one.

The driver subsequently used the truck to block the company’s entrance, triggering a physical confrontation involving the drivers, security personnel and an Indian national associated with the company.

The police identified the alleged victims as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37. Both were taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for medical attention.

The investigating officer reportedly visited the victims at the hospital and obtained their statements as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The arrested suspects were identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, both security operatives attached to the company, and Harjit Singh, a 46-year-old Indian national associated with the firm.

The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the respective roles of the suspects and determine the culpability of all parties involved.

The case has been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation and necessary action.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that the law would apply equally to individuals and organisations, irrespective of their status.
