A 50-year-old man, Kazeem Adeoye, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, following an alleged assault on a woman and her daughter in Ifo Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred at Shonde on Sunday after a disagreement involving the children of Adeoye and those of the complainant, Morifat Oladeinde.

According to the corps, Adeoye and his wife allegedly went to Oladeinde’s residence following a quarrel between their sons, Abdullah and Ope, and the woman’s children as they returned from church.

The So-Safe Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta on Monday.

Ganzallo said Oladeinde lodged a complaint at the Olayemi/Demokula Divisional Headquarters at about 4.45pm on October 11.

The complainant alleged that Adeoye and his wife verbally abused her family during the confrontation, adding that the suspect’s wife struck her on the head with a stick, leaving her bleeding.

She also reported finding a visible cut on her daughter Mariam’s forehead, which she alleged was inflicted by Adeoye.

Following the complaint, the divisional officer, SC Innocent Matthew, directed a team of two officers to arrest the suspect for investigation.

Ganzallo said Adeoye admitted during questioning that he went to the complainant’s residence to warn her family over disagreements involving their children, but the encounter escalated into a physical confrontation.

The suspect reportedly said his sons had complained that the complainant’s children obstructed their path while they were riding a bicycle.

The corps said Oladeinde and her daughter were taken to the Government Health Centre, Lisa, for medical treatment after their injuries were observed.

Adeoye was subsequently detained pending further investigation and the submission of a medical report.

The corps commander added that the case file and the suspect were transferred to the Ifo Area Command on Monday for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Ganzallo urged residents to settle disagreements peacefully and report incidents of violence to the appropriate authorities. He also stressed the need to protect children and ensure allegations of assault are thoroughly investigated.
