Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on Tuesday joined protest of electricity outage, mobilized by civil society actors, on arrival at the Government House, Benin City.

Civil Society Groups in Edo State took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the epileptic power supply by the power distribution company, BEDC.

The protesters displayed placards bearing different inscriptions, singing solidarity songs, as they marched to the Government House, G.R.A., Benin City.

On arrival, the protesters were joined by the governor who came out of his office to receive them.

Governor Okpebholo supported the protesters in berating the power distribution company, promising to break the monopoly of the power distribution by engaging investors.

One of the Conveners welcomed the involvement of the Governor in the protest.

The protesters promised to wait for the outcome of the meeting between them and the governor, before deciding on the next line of action.
