Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has expanded its academic offerings from 17 to 34 degree programmes and secured a full licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olukayode Akinyemi, disclosed this at a press conference while reviewing the institution’s progress since it began academic activities in the 2023/2024 session.
Licensed on June 5, 2023, the university started with 33 students. Its enrolment increased to 208 in the 2024/2025 session and 276 in 2025/2026, while its current student population has exceeded 500.
Akinyemi said the institution expected to admit close to 500 additional students in the next academic session, scheduled to begin towards the end of October 2026, subject to the admissions process.
He explained that the NUC assessed the university’s teaching and learning, research, financial management, governance, administration and institutional operations before communicating the outcome of its review in October.
The vice-chancellor said the development reinforced the university’s commitment to meeting regulatory requirements and strengthening its academic standards.
As part of efforts to improve graduates’ employability, the institution is implementing a Four Certifications Model designed to provide students with academic knowledge, professional competence, information and communication technology skills, and entrepreneurship training.
According to Akinyemi, the approach is intended to prepare graduates for employment, innovation and business creation.
He also disclosed that the university’s Law programme had received approval from the Council of Legal Education, while preparations were under way to secure accreditation for 13 other programmes.
In addition, the institution has introduced tuition rebates for eligible Agriculture students, subject to specified conditions, to encourage agricultural education and support efforts to improve food security.
