A partner at Afe Babalola & Co., Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Ehinfun-Adekunle, has been elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), joining the elite group of legal practitioners recognised for distinction in the profession.
GalaxyTV reports that Ehinfun-Adekunle joins the legal elite club at just 40 years old, making her the youngest female lawyer to do so.
Her elevation was among the 68 appointments approved by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee on July 23, 2026. She was formally admitted to the Inner Bar by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, on October 12 during a special session of the Supreme Court marking the opening of the 2026/2027 legal year.
Ehinfun-Adekunle has been described in reports as the youngest woman to attain the prestigious rank, although official confirmation of the record rests with the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.
GalaxyTV further reports that Ehinfun-Adekunle has worked at Afe Babalola & Co., also known as Emmanuel Chambers, since September 2013.
Her practice covers litigation, commercial dispute resolution, international arbitration, oil and gas matters, election petitions and appellate advocacy.
Ehinfun-Adekunle studied law at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, between 2003 and 2009 before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. She later obtained a Master of Laws degree in International Trade Law from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK.
Beyond her legal practice, she has advocated reforms aimed at improving the administration of justice in Nigeria, including reducing delays in litigation, establishing more specialised commercial courts and expanding access to legal assistance for people unable to afford private representation.
She has also stressed the importance of mentoring young lawyers, particularly women, and upholding ethical standards in the legal profession.
Four women were among the 68 practitioners sworn in as Senior Advocates of Nigeria in October, marking another milestone in the representation of women at the highest level of the legal profession.
