Northern Youth, under the umbrella of Nasiriya Movement, have called on the Federal Government to ensure thorough investigation of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State. The youth also supported the continuous detention of the former pending the conclusion of investigation and possible trial on allegations of financial misconduct.
The Convener, Shehu Mohammed, said their demands became necessary since the former governor is being investigated for the alleged misappropriation of over N400 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
The group accused the former governor of disregarding human rights and the rule of law during his tenure. The youth stated that thousands of civil servants were sacked without due process or compensation.
The group also urged the Federal Government to thoroughly investigate El-Rufai over allegations of phone tapping involving the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu.
