The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has renewed its support for Nigeria’s ambition to become a one trillion-dollar economy by 2030.

NCS Comptroller-General (C-G) Bashir Adeniyi expressed support in a statement by the service’s Spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Thursday in Abuja.

Adeniyi spoke while delivering a keynote address at The New Nigeria Festival (TNNF).

The event was organised by Bullion Strategic Synergy Ltd and endorsed by the Office of the Vice President and the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, amongst others.

It focused on the theme, “Great Ideas, Bold Execution”.

Adeniyi said that the service, through its constitutional responsibilities of revenue collection, trade facilitation and border management, remained strategically positioned to contribute to the country’s economic transformation.

He said the NCS had moved beyond ideas and discussions to taking practical steps in support of the national economic ambition.

He said that ongoing NCS modernisation reforms, including the deployment of B’Odogwu, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme and Advance Ruling mechanism, were designed to facilitate legitimate trade.

He said the initiatives would improve predictability in the trading environment and ultimately strengthen revenue generation.

The C-G emphasised the need for institutions to translate national aspirations into measurable results.

He said the one trillion dollars economic target was achievable if plans and strategies developed to achieve it were properly implemented.

“Execution is nothing if it is not concrete. We have to move from ideas to action and ensure that whatever we plan translates into results.

“That is how we can begin to see the kind of transformation we are talking about,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the NCS recently said it generated N3.35 trillion in revenue between January and May 2026 while intensifying anti-smuggling operations, trade facilitation and border security across the country.

Also in September, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, said NCS was on track to achieve its N11 trillion annual target.

Oyedele commended the service for its ongoing trade reforms and revenue generation of N4.03 trillion in the first half of 2026.
