The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has arrested two men for allegedly dumping human waste on a road median in Oshodi, as the state intensifies efforts to curb illegal waste disposal.

The suspects, identified as 50-year-old Sabo Ali and 30-year-old Ahead Adamu, were allegedly caught using a cart to dispose of faecal waste on the median.

LAWMA Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed the arrests in a post on his verified X account on Friday.

He said operatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline team had also sealed an abandoned property allegedly used by the suspects for the illegal activity.

Gbadegesin said the enforcement action was part of efforts to protect public spaces and ensure compliance with environmental laws across Lagos.

“We will continue to identify and disrupt illegal dumping activities, enforce environmental laws and protect public spaces,” he said.

He urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly and engage approved waste collection services.

“Dump responsibly. Use approved waste collection services. Help us achieve a cleaner Lagos,” he added.
