Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has donated a sum of 10 million Naira on behalf of the state government and a personal donation of a million Naira to support the appeal fund raising week in celebration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance DAY Celebration

The Governor also pledged that his administration would continue to support the welfare of the serving and retired soldiers for their sacrifice and steadfastness in keeping the country safe and secure.

Makinde on Thursday hosted relevant stakeholders at the launching of the emblem for 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.

In his address, Governor Seyi Makinde appreciated the members of the Nigerian Legion, Oyo State and the serving Military Personnel for paying supreme price in achieving the peace of the nation, saying that in spite of the various challenges facing the nation, they have remained steadfast in keeping it safe.

Earlier, the Oyo State Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Evangelist Julius Ogunkojo, who appreciated the leadership qualities of Governor Seyi Makinde, said that the main focus of the programme was to raise fund in order to cater for the Veterans who are still alive but incapacitated.

The event witnessed the decoration of the state governor, the deputy Governor, Speaker State House of Assembly, represented by the deputy speaker, top government officials, Service commanders, Commissioner of Police among others.
