The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four men in two separate investigations involving allegedly missing human heads from graves and the possession of suspected human hands.

The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, disclosed this on Tuesday in Ilorin, saying investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding both cases and identify other possible suspects.

In the first case, Abu Jimoh and Ayo Jimoh were arrested on October 8 while allegedly digging graves at a cemetery in Omupo, where several bodies had reportedly been exhumed and their heads removed.

The police said the incident was discovered in May when residents visiting the cemetery to bury a deceased person found that some graves had been disturbed and the bodies inside were missing their heads.

“Following a painstaking, intelligence-led investigation, operatives arrested Abu Jimoh and Ayo Jimoh at about 5:00 a.m. on October 8, 2026, while they were allegedly digging graves within the cemetery,” Adekimi said.

According to the police, the two suspects allegedly identified a herbalist, Mukaila Bello, as the person who bought the missing heads. The information provided by the command did not confirm whether Bello had been arrested.

The police said the suspects would be arraigned after investigations were concluded.

In a separate incident, operatives arrested Kamalden Lukmon and AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim at about 4pm on October 8 along Bakase Road in Alapa, where two suspected human hands were recovered.

The command said preliminary questioning indicated that the suspects intended to use the body parts for money-making rituals.

The suspects reportedly told investigators that a vigilante member, identified as Abdulraf Apata, had handed the body parts to them.

“The allegation against Apata is being investigated to establish the facts and determine whether other individuals were involved,” the police said.

Lukmon and Ibrahim are being held at the Violent Crimes Response Unit as investigations continue, according to the command.

The police added that investigators were working to establish the identity of the possible victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the case.

The command said further investigations were ongoing in both incidents, with prosecution to follow when the necessary inquiries had been completed.
