Tinubu shared the experience in a post on X on Wednesday, November 4, while highlighting his administration’s education initiatives.

The president said he later worked different jobs after arriving in Chicago to support himself and pay his way through university.
He said the experience of worrying about tuition, accommodation and other expenses had stayed with him, adding that he believes every Nigerian child deserves access to education regardless of their background or family income.
Tinubu also highlighted several education initiatives under his administration, including student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), technical and vocational education programmes, rehabilitation of technical colleges and increased enrolment in nursing, medical and dental programmes.
According to the president, NELFUND has provided more than ₦372 billion in student loans for institutional fees and upkeep.
He also said over one million children previously out of school had returned to learning, while his administration was investing in teacher development and expanding educational opportunities for girls.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to explore education programmes available through the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative and provide feedback on challenges in their communities.
